Mickie James vs. Tara w/ Jessie
Tara makes her entrance with her boy toy Jessie and they do the usual routine in the ring. Mickie makes her entrance and her way to the ring. Both girls tie up in the center of the ring, Tara overpowers Mickie and throws her across the ring, the crowd starts chanting for Mickie. They tie up again and Tara gets the advantage into a bear hug quickly followed by slamming Mickie into the mat. She spins around on Mickie’s back followed by smacking her butt, Tara goes over to Jessie and they rub noses and Mickie comes up behind Tara and smacks her back on the butt. Mickie then kicks Tara in the middle section followed by applying a headlock. Tara pushes Mickie into the ropes and she bounces back and hits a shoulder bump.

Mickie comes off the ropes and cartwheels over Tara and lands a drop kick on her, Tara gets back up and Mickie uses a drop toe hold on her. Mickie then sits on her back and licks her hand and smacks Tara numerous times on the butt. She rolls out of the ring and Tara comes into the ring and gets a drop toe hold for his trouble, Mickie then follows up smacking his butt numerous times aswell and he rolls out of the ring to Tara. ODB gets on her hands and knees and ask Mickie to smack her on the butt like she just did Tara and Jessie moments earlier. While Jessie is checking on Tara, Mickie hits her with a baseball slide and sends her onto the floor. Mickie picks Tara up and throws her back into the ring.

Interview With Ringside Report
Post details: Author: Deanna on May 21st, 2013
Categories: Interviews. Comments Off

Mickie recently spoke to Ringside Report to discuss various topics including her new album “Somebody’s Gonna Pay”, her thoughts on Hulk Hogan, Trish Stratus, WWE, TNA, music and much more. Read below:

In professional wrestling, names like “The Rock,” “Hulk Hogan” and “Stone Cold Steve Austin” are often those mentioned regarding the topic. The males are the typical headliners and for a long time the females in the game were nothing more than eye candy or a side show. This has changed over the past twenty years, but it has still proven more difficult for a woman to become a performer of such note that they fall into the same category as the Hulkster or The Rock.

Trish Stratus and Chyna paved the way and following in the footsteps and quickly establishing herself as a key player in the sport was Mickie James. She began her career in 1999 on the indy circuit and earned her way to an opportunity in the WWE in 2005, where she became an obsessed fan of Stratus. She was incredibly likable as the nutty character and the fans responded well, leading to a title-winning victory at WrestleMania 22.

Impact Wrestling have published their weekly column “Bracing For Impact” where writer Jason Grand takes a special look at the landscape before each Thursday’s Impact Wrestling broadcast. Read the column below:

It all makes you thankful for Mickie James and Velvet Sky. While so much seems to be “up in the air”, one thing remains constant. The Knockouts Division is on fire and these two women deserve nothing but praise. On this week’s Impact, it’s time for the match we’ve been waiting for as Velvet defends her Knockouts Championship against former champ James.

Whichever side you’re on, one thing is certain. This is a bout you’ll want to see. Sometimes mutual respect and admiration can bring out the best in someone far more than violence and aggression.

Roughstock Review; “Somebody’s Gonna Pay”
Post details: Author: Anthony on May 17th, 2013
Categories: Album Review,Music. Comments Off

Roughstock have published a review on their website of Mickie’s new album “Somebody’s Gonna Pay” which was released last week to great reviews and has also been getting great exposure. Read the review below:

If the name Mickie James sounds familiar to you, you’ve likely seen her perform as one of the top Wrestlers of both TNA Impact Wrestling and WWE this past decade. Originally financed via a Kickstarter campaign, Mickie James’ Somebody’s Gonna Pay eventually found a home with powerful indie label Entertainment One (the label which releases Shooter Jennings and Bucky Covington albums among many chart-toppers in other genres). Working with producers RS Field and Jamie Lee Thurston, Mickie James position herself in the bluesy and rocky side of Country Music which is home to artists like Gretchen Wilson and Robin Lee before them.

The title track and lead single “Somebody’s Gonna Pay” showcases a woman who is hell bent on getting revenge while “Best Damn Night” brings a little sassy attitude over a funky Country Blues melody. “Long Way Down” and “A Good Time” are both rockin’ uptemo tunes, the first one is a song that is co-written by Craig Wiseman while the latter is a Bridgette Tatum co-write. Both songs showcase a strong artist who is more confident than ever as a vocalist. The majority of the record remains uptempo and upbeat, a style that certainly fits the professional wrestler. “Goin’ Fast” (a song co-written by The Civil Wars’ John Paul White) fits this mode as does “I Just Wanna Do My thing, one of the songs co-written by one of Mickie’s two producers, Jamie Lee Thurston.

Interview With “Art Of Wrestling” Podcast

Mickie recently spoke to Colt Cabana from the “Art Of Wrestling” podcast to discuss various topics including her new album “Somebody’s Gonna Pay”, her career and person life. Read some highlights below:

On the recording process of “Somebody’s Gonna Pay”; “It’s like country/southern-rock. My first album I released on my own. It was more of an independent and self-promoted type of thing. My Kickstarter helped fund about the first six songs off the new album. I was going to release a little six-song EP but my management had started shopping different songs from different labels. Then eOne Entertainment heard the music. I met with them and talked to them. They ended up liking me so we went back into the studio to record the second half of the album. It actually took much longer than I thought it would take. It took about a year to actually finish it.”

On getting signed by WWE in 2003; “It was amazing! All my dreams came true when I signed on that dotted line. My birthday is August 31st and I remember it was the best birthday present ever because I had just got signed right before. Prior to that, I had an offer to go to Japan for a couple of months. That’s one place I’ve never done. I’ve never been to Japan just to do the Japanese circuit. I was also getting offers from TNA to sign a one-year contract so I was stuck in the middle but Dr. Tom called me and he spoke to Johnny Ace. It all worked out for the best.”

Madison Rayne Talks About Mickie In Latest Blog; May 16

Madison Rayne has published a new blog on the Knockouts website where she talks about the release of Mickie’s album “Somebody’s Gonna Pay”, she also talks about her personality and more. Read below:

Mickie James’ new album “Somebody’s Gonna Pay” dropped recently. Has everyone gotten their copy in stores and/or online? is everyone gettin’ down in the Hardcore Country backwoods holler with their moonshine and their bird dog, Buster? Yee-haw! Mickie, I’m afraid, is having a real issue with personality disorder right now. I know she’s in this whole “back to my country roots” type situation right now, but if I remember correctly back to when I was, oh I don’t know, eleven, when Mickie made her big mark on professional wrestling, she was this mega insane, wide eyed, obsessive girl hiding in the shadows, right? and when she came to TNA she was Native American.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Halloween, but Mickie, give me a call when you’re ready to figure yourself out and get back to those crazy, evil roots that we all know and love. But seriously though, if I ever decide to have a hoedown in the royal courtyard and put my long flowing locks in pig tails, I’m so putting your new album on repeat! Kudos!

Style Weekly Article; Knockout Country
Post details: Author: Anthony on May 14th, 2013

Style Weekly have published an article discussing Mickie’s music video for her first single “Somebody’s Gonna Pay”, her new album of the same name and also getting support from Dixie Carter. Read the article below:

Mickie James is less a “Stand by Your Man” country singer than the “Hit Him over the Head with a Folding Chair” type. Or, you know, whatever’s handy. In the video for “Somebody’s Gonna Pay,” the title track for her new country album, the former five-time World Wrestling Entertainment champion female wrestler smashes a guitar over the head of fellow Total Nonstop Action wrestler Magnus, who’s playing a jerky pickup artist who’d just done a woman wrong. Former WWE star Trish Stratus cameos in the video as a bartender.

“I had never swung a guitar before,” says James, a Hanover County native who still lives in the area. “I had to get Jeff Jarrett to show me how to do it,” she says, referring to the TNA wrestler known for bonking people over the noggin with guitars a la Quick Draw McGraw’s masked alter ego, El Kabong. The video for “Somebody’s Gonna Pay” was produced by the same team that filmed Bucky Covington’s and Shooter Jennings’ 2012 video “Drinking Side of Country,” in which James cameos.
