Impact Wrestling have uploaded a backstage exclusive interview with Mickie following her Knockouts Championship victory over Velvet Sky, thus making her a three time Knockouts Champion. Watch the video:

Mickie comes into Velvet’s locker room while she’s taping her knee up and asks if she’s ready and offers to ask Brooke Hogan to postpone the match. Velvet says Mickie is such a good friend and loves her, but she doesn’t want to give Gail Kim the satisfaction of watching her sit out. Mickie says she loves her too and makes sure one more time that Velvet’s okay with this, but they hug and Mickie walks off.

They do some basic feeling out to start off as they trade armbars and takedowns, but that quickly turns to a vicious forearm exchange that Mickie wins before hitting a spinning Uncle Slam, then holds onto the full nelson as she grinds Velvet into the mat as we go to commercial.

We’re back and Mickie is still in control as the announcers point out that Mickie James hasn’t held the title in nearly two years. Velvet comes back with some clotheslines, but Mickie goes after the knee. Velvet hits a Russian legsweep for two, but Mickie starts working over Velvet’s ribs with kicks and shoulderblocks. Taz pops me with a joke about Velvet’s Berzerker boots as she hits a flying headscissors, but seems to have hurt her knee on the way down and Mickie swoops right in and clips her knee out. Mickie gets her Crazy Mickie look on her face as she hits a DDT on Velvet and pins her to finally regain the Knockouts Title.
Winner; Mickie James (New TNA Knockouts Champion)

Mickie briefly looks down at Velvet clutching her knee in pain before heading up the ramp with her championship in hand.

The TNA Knockouts championship will be on the line on Thursday’s huge broadcast as Velvet Sky will defend the gold against her friend (and former titleholder) Mickie James from Tampa, Florida at the USF Sun Dome.

We are backstage and Brooke Hogan tells Mickie how much she likes her new album and Twitter has been blowing up about it. Mickie says that she is excited and overwelmed by it and thanks her but says that she would of appreciated getting abit more of the spotlight at Slammiversary. Brooke says that she needed to let Gail and Taryn to settle their feud, she says she knows how bad Mickie wants to be on top of the division.

Brooke then says that she will give Mickie another Knockouts Championship opportunity next week against Velvet Sky. Mickie seems very impressed by that decision and Brooke tells her to get ready, Mickie says she will be ready. Bully Ray enters and tells Mickie to go get ready girl.

TNA Knockouts Champion Velvet Sky and Mickie James vs. Gail Kim and Tara
Mickie and Gail start the match for their respective teams. Mickie takes Gail down with back to back forearms then dropkicks Tara when she attempts to intervene. Gail reverses an Irish whip and Jessie sweeps the legs while Tara distracts ODB. Kim applies a wristlock and looks for a tag but Tara is busy with Jessie.

Tara gets her head back in the game and climbs the apron so she can tag in. Tara continues the assault, tying Mickie up in a Tree of Woe. Tara gets a running head start and dropkicks Mickie right in the face. Tara rubs noses with Jessie so Gail tags herself in since she’s actually paying attention.

Gail splashes Mickie in the corner as Jessie fans Tara with his vest. Back in the ring Mickie regains the advantage with a savate kick as Gail goes for a splash. Tara gets the tag but so does Velvet and the Knockouts Champion takes it right to her rival with a running neckbreaker for a two count.

Velvet sets up for In Yo Face but Gail runs in to stop it. Velvet throws Gail into Jessie and both fall to the outside. Tara gets distracted by this and Velvet hits In Yo Face the second time around for the three count.

The road to “Slammiversary” continues as Impact will be live from Tupelo, Mississippi! In Knockouts action, it will be Knockouts Champion Velvet Sky teaming with Mickie James vs. the tandem of Gail Kim and Tara.

Mickie James and Taryn Terrell vs. Gail Kim and Tara
ODB is once again the referee for this Knockouts match. Mickie James starsts off the match, and is in control of Gail Kim. Eventually Tara gets tagged in and goes on the advantage, and the heels trade off with quick tags, keeping Mickie off her feet. Tara levels Taryn with a huge slap across the face, but ODB keeps her from getting into the match. Gail is in now, and stomps away in the corner. Mickie gets her boots up and takes out Kim who runs to the corner, and both girls take each other out with crossbodies at the same time.

Taryn and Tara with hot tags, and Terrell hits a snap suplex on her opponent. Diving crossbody off the top connects, but Gail Kim breaks up the pin. Mickie and Gail fight to the outside, and Taryn rolls up Tara for a three-count.

After the match, the heels beat up on the faces. Mickie and Tara brawl up the entrance ramp as Gail Kim continues to attack the rookie in the ring. She hits Eat Defeat and leaves her laying in the ring.

Footage is shown that recaps Mickie’s path back to a title shot and she feels sorry for Velvet because she has to fight through an injury, but she needs to remind everyone of how good she is and it’s her time to shine.

Mickie looks like she’s worked hard to get herself into great shape. They do some basic feeling out before Velvet snapmares Mickie and hits a basement dropkick for two. Velvet hits a leapfrog and tweaks the knee she injured a couple of weeks ago and Mickie hesitates for a moment before going for a cover. She only gets two, so she gets a spinning toehold, a very legitimate submission hold that could end a match after someone suffers an injury like Velvet did and we go to commercial.

We’re back, and Mickie is still relentlessly working Velvet’s knee over. She catches Velvet in an STF, Velvet makes it to the ropes to force a break and she suddenly starts firing back at Mickie after getting a second wind. Her knee is still giving her a lot of trouble as she unloads on Mickie, but collapses when she gets fired into the ropes and goes down in a heap. Mickie hesitates again and it costs her as Velvet hits a Russian legsweep for two.
